Alpha

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over ten thought provoking weekly sessions. You will not want to miss the retreat on February 23 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Lakeville that focuses on the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Alpha is low-key, friendly and fun – and is supported by all the main Christian denominations. The course is appreciated by all that enroll, whether they are investigating the Christian faith for the first time or are taking another look at the faith. Even long time members of the church appreciate this experience.

Each weekly session begins with an informal supper, followed by a large-group learning time. We discuss such topics as: "Who is Jesus?" "Why did Jesus die?" "How can I be sure of my faith?" "Does God still heal today?" Each session ends with small-group discussion and interaction.

The next course will be held at the church on Monday evenings, 6:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. from January 21 through March 24.

You are encouraged to attend the Celebration Dinner on Sunday evening, January 13, to get a taste of what Alpha is all about and to ask any questions you may have.

Registrations for the course, or reservations for the Celebration Dinner, should be made by January 10 by contacting Ron Freimark, the Alpha director, (651) 730-1000, or e-mail:
Ron Freimark.

Testimonials

“Alpha is a great course for anyone who might be intimidated by Bible study groups. The course is refreshingly simple and engaging. I ended the course feeling a renewed motivation to strengthen my relationship with Christ!”                                                             -- Lotus Wollschlager

“The Alpha course was a wonderful journey for me. It was a great adult “beginning” (because I don't remember much from confirmation!), and it opened many doors for me to develop my faith. I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to ask any questions about the Bible and the Faith. It helped me grow spiritually and refocus my energies as I continue opening doors in my Christian life. No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, Alpha is great!”                              -- Marie Garbe

Men’s Bible Study

This Saturday morning Bible study for men is conversational and casual. The discussion centers on chosen Bible passages and various Christian topics. A light breakfast is served. Additional projects and events are considered and planned.

Women’s ministries

Creative Connections ~ Creative Connections is a monthly time, normally on a Friday or Saturday night, for you to work on unfinished projects outside of the hustle and bustle of a busy life. Whether it is the photos that need to be sorted, knitting started last year, thank you cards not yet finished, or a scrapbook that never ends, we have space and time for you to come, relax, and work on them. Bring a friend!

Mom’s L.I.F.E. ~ Mom’s L.I.F.E. (Living in Faith Everyday) is a ministry for moms with small children. As the children play, we hope to encourage one another in all aspects of parenting and gain spiritual growth through Bible studies and devotions. Mom’s L.I.F.E. meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

During the school year Mom's L.I.F.E. meets at the church; summer months are at area parks.

Women’s Winter Retreat ~ This annual, weekend get-away offers women time for spiritual and physical renewal away from the demands of daily life. Normally offered in January or February, this retreat is held at an area Bible camp or retreat center where meals are provided and the beauty of nature can be enjoyed.

Senior Life Fellowship

Members of Senior Life Fellowship share life long experience in God’s grace. Faith is renewed and strengthened through regular Bible study and fellowship. The group is privileged to have two retired pastors among their growing numbers.
