Worship Leader

The Worship Leader will provide leadership for the worship planning process, musical aspects of worship services and community life at Resurrection to ensure excellence in all aspects of worship and music. You will be part of a team with five other full or part time church staff members.
Responsibilities: The Worship Leader will work with the Senior Pastor and designated leaders to plan and coordinate all worship services at Resurrection. This person will create and lead a team process to develop thematic worship 9 to 12 months out with a team of leaders from pertinent ministry areas. This person will provide leadership for all current and future worship services. Other tasks: § Arrange all special music for Resurrection’s worship services. § Give leadership and vision to sound, video and drama teams. § Responsible for coordinating music at funerals and must perform when necessary. § Provide music consultation and possible performance at weddings. § Develop and maintain an approved list of music for weddings and funerals. It will be this person’s responsibility to prepare the worship team to lead worship. This will include: organizing and leading practice sessions, recruiting and training vocal talent and instrumentalists and offering spiritual support for team members. Other duties: § Develop a system for integrating new team members. § Create an organizational structure to support changing dynamics of the team. § Maintain an emphasis on quality performance.
A significant aspect of this position will be to develop new musical opportunities at Resurrection in addition to the existing Worship Team. This will include: developing new vocal opportunities for adults and children as well as other musical options for everyone in the congregation. Other: § Provide consultation and assistance to those leading music in other ministries at Resurrection. § Music director for events: variety show, fun run and parades.
§ Provide office staff with the necessary information for the weekly worship folders. § Attend weekly meetings with Senior Pastor to debrief Sunday worship. § Be present at staff meetings. § Develop and manage the annual budget for worship and music. § Create and maintain music files and library. § Participate in occasional staff and congregational planning events. § Prepare and present an annual report for the congregational meeting.
