Outreach

The goal of Resurrection's Outreach Ministry is to reach out to those in need in our community, our country, and our world. We facilitate ways to spread God's word, help those in need, and make our community a better place.

This team is not a ministry in and of itself; we serve to promote an attitude of outreach in all we do at and through Resurrection. We work with Resurrection ministry teams and encourage each to consider and plan ways to live out God's call to help and serve others.

Serve One_Another

Past projects include:

    • Raking leaves for the elderly
    • Events at homeless shelters
    • Compassion International
    • Food and Gift drives
    • Meal-packing events
    • Annual faith in ACT!ON Day

Resurrection partners with the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf in Woodbury to provide help for those in need. Linda Goodno serves as Resurrection's representative on the Christian Cupboard board, while others coordinate hands-on activities, such as the Christmas Giving Tree or the March food drive as part of Minnesota Foodshare. Nonperishable food is collected at church by Sr. Life Fellowship on Food First Sunday, the first Sunday of every month. Volunteers help stock and organize the food shelves.  And youth volunteer to carry groceries and/or gifts during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  Those in need can call the Christian Cupboard at 651-332-9042.

Volunteer

  • Prepare and serve a meal, help with the kids program and distribute groceries with CURE Ministries at East Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Resurrection serves the second Monday of each month.  Sign up for cooking, serving, or both (youth are welcome with their parents).  Questions?  Contact Terri Dokken.

  • Help host families at Guardian Angels Catholic Church homeless shelter, Hope for the Journey Home.  The shelter provides overnight housing for local families in need.  Volunteers help with the kids, cook a meal or stay overnight at the facility. Families are encouraged to serve together; this is a kid friendly opportunity.  To sign up contact Terri Nelson, or Mike Fouts at Guardian Angels.

  • Rake-A-Difference one Saturday in the fall from 8:30 - noon.  Contact Laura Holtmeier.

  • Sponsor a child through Compassion International.
